Wet handkerchiefs in some restaurants contain 880 times of permissible number of bacteria.
It is better not to use wet handkerchiefs or wet tissue provided by restaurants. Especially you shall not wipe out your mouth with it. It is found that the wet handkerchiefs and wet tissue provided by restaurants to their guests are seriously polluted. In some cases there were 880 times of bacteria than its permissible numbers. Korea Consumer Agency announced on 18th of this months on the result of their investigation on chemicals, bacteria, foreign materials, etc. in wet handkerchiefs and wet tissues provided by 54 restaurants in Seoul city recently. In their investigation on bacteria test, the wet handkerchiefs and wet tissues provided by 11 restaurants, about 20.4% of investigated restaurants, are found to contain general bacteria exceeding the permissible standard. Negative ion surface active agent(LAS) is detected from 16 restaurants, about 29.6% of 54 restaurants Fluorescent whitening agent is detected from 22 restaurants providing wet handkerchiefs. Fluorescent whitening agent may cause to inflame on skin, and it is prohibited to use in beauty paper, container packing, wet tissue, paper napkin, etc. Foreign materials are detected in all restaurants providing wet handkerchiefs from all investigated restaurants. The detected foreign materials are hot peppers, hair, eye hair, pieces of stone-leek, pieces of seaweed, threads, etc.
